Plastic tensile test
Plastic tensile test:
Apply gradually increasing tensile load along the length direction of the plastic standard specimen to cause deformation until failure, and the tensile stress required for specimen failure is the tensile strength. The change in tensile length of the specimen is expressed by the elongation at break. By selecting appropriate stress and strain on the straight line segment before the yield point of the stress-strain curve, the elastic modulus of the plastic film can be calculated.
Tensile strength - the amount of force that a plastic can be subjected to before yielding (irreversible stretching) or breaking.
Tensile modulus - the degree to which a material undergoes deformation (tension) due to stress before yielding. Modulus is an indicator of material stiffness.
Elongation - the increase in gauge length after fracture divided by the initial gauge length. The greater the elongation, the better the ductility.
